Vantage Energy was focused on the acquisition and development of natural gas in the Barnett Shale of North Texas and in the Greene County, Pennsylvania portion of the dry gas Marcellus Shale. Lime Rock invested in Vantage Energy I in 2007, and the company grew through acreage acquisitions and leasing, significant development drilling, and construction of midstream infrastructure. Rice Energy acquired Vantage Energy and Vantage Energy II in 2016 for $2.7 billion.
